The Unimog is a multipurpose vehicle that began development as a tractor/agricultural work vehicle with a loading platform shortly after World War II, and more than 400,000 units have been produced to date. There are many optional attachments for different purposes such as cleaning, transportation and snow removal, and by replacing them, the unit can be used for various purposes; this increases usability and reduces cost. In Japan, it’s often seen as a special work vehicle used by highway and railway companies, as well as a firetruck. The name Unimog is a reading of the bold part of the German abbreviation “Universal-Motor-Gerat” (literally “multipurpose power unit). The U1300L is a long-wheelbased version of the 424 Middle Series that first appeared in 1976, equipped with a 130-horsepower engine. The kit comes with a rescue platform, seen on the box art, as an optional part; also includes photo-etched parts and decals for three versions (two German Army, one German Air Force).
