The Hell Cannon: the howitzer that fires propane (butane) gas cylinders loaded with explosives; the latest piece of homemade weaponry developed and used by Syrian rebels. It has range of about a mile and are mortar-like weapons, first rigged up in the rural areas near Idlib by the Ahrar al-Shamal Brigade, then a member force of the Free Syrian Army in 2013. These artifacts are produced with the materials and tools that can be obtained in a country besieged by war. The homegrown howitzer caught on and was soon produced in slightly different variants in and around Aleppo, and used for urban warfare.
