This is an injection-plastic field gun model kit.
The Flak 38 was developed after the Flak 30 anti-aircraft gun proved to have too slow a firing speed for the increased speed and agility of enemy aircraft. The firing speed of the Flak 38 was almost doubled with its system that uses 20 ammunition magazines; it was also designed with an eye toward mass-production. The Sd.Ah.51 trailer on which it was mounted could also be easily towed, and the gun could be fired without removing it from the trailer. It was used as Germany’s main anti-aircraft gun on all fronts until the end of the war.
The Sd.Ah.51 trailer in this kit is a new mold; the legs of the gun are foldable, and it can be removed from the trailer if you prefer. Photo-etched parts are included for the shields (plastic parts for the shields are also included).
