This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.

The venerable Sherman tank was the backbone of US forces in WWII, and was also supplied in great numbers to the rest of the Allies. Often outgunned and out-armored, it prevailed on the battlefield thanks to strategy and sheer numbers. Many variations appeared throughout the course of the war and beyond, with Shermans serving around the world decades after the war finished. This kit depicts the M4A3 75mm-gunned version of this great iconic tank.

Hobby Boss’ new M4A3 features many parts from its earlier releases, and as such is still a bit of a mixed bag, combining decent, sharp molding with some unfortunate accuracy problems with details and dimensions. Hull angles and proportions are a bit off, and the same goes for the turret. Two sets of road wheels are included: six-spoked pressed and pressed steel dish types. The great thing about this kit is the very nice detail. This is one of the very few Sherman kits to portray the thickened armor of the turret’s right “cheek.” Nice! Tracks are provided as reasonably detailed black vinyl belts. Includes a nice fret of photo-etched detail parts. Not a perfect Sherman kit, but the detail is quite well done, and in the end it certainly looks like a Sherman! Interestingly, the typo “tamk” (for “tank”) carries over to every use of the word on the box art! Gotta appreciate consistency…they got it right in the instructions, though!
