The Elephant is a German heavy-duty destroyer from World War II, with the power of a 71-caliber 8.8cm long gun and heavy armor up to 200mm thick. Developed by Porsche for Tiger tanks, a new fixed battle room was set up on the hull that was not adopted in the competition trial with Henschel, and a PaK43/271 caliber 8.8cm tank gun was installed. It was characterized by a drive system with a unique mechanism called an engine power generation motor drive system. From March to May 1943, 90 of this tank were produced using the hull prepared at the time of the competitive trial. It was immediately deployed to the Kursk battle against the Soviet Union in July, and demonstrated its power there. Although suffering from obstacles due to the unique system and lack of mobility due to its weight, it continued to be used until the end of the war, including being dispatched to the defense of Berlin.
