The German 8.8cm gun demonstrated high performance not only as an anti-aircraft gun but also as an anti-tank gun.

The 8.8cm gun was developed in 1928 by the Krupp company and was formalized as the Flak 18, followed by the Flak 36, an improved version of the Flak 18 that was used in the Spanish Civil War.

The Flak 37 was also equipped with a metered ballistic calculator.
