The Ho Chi Minh Trail was a supply route from North Vietnam through Laos, used to transport food, weapons and ammunition to the North Vietnamese soldiers operating out of South Vietnam. Trucks and bicycles were used for transport, but because it was often interrupted by U.S. military attacks, elephants were also used. Elephants were able to traverse through thick jungle foliage that would stop any kind of vehicle cold.
