The M4A2 Sherman was a welded hull variant that was powered by dual GMC diesel engine. Production began in April 1942, and approximately 4,900 M4A2 small hatch Shermans were produced. The U.S. Army preferred the M4 with radial engins, so the M4A2 was supplied to other country’s under the lend-lease act. Usurers of the M4A2 included Great Britain, France, Poland, and Russia. The United States Marine Corp also used the M4A2 in the south pacific theater of operation.
