The BT tank was developed in the Soviet Union before World War II; it was developed by importing and improving the Christie tank, developed by American engineer John W. Christie. The BT-2 was the first mass-produced model in the series and was initially equipped with a 37mm tank gun, but due to a shortage, it was replaced with a 7.62mm tank gun. Some of them were equipped with machine guns.
