Michael Wittmann was a member of the German Third Reich SS during World War II, and was a tank crew member of the Waffen SS’s 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler (LSSAH). His final rank was SS Captain, and he was one of the tank crews who destroyed the most enemy tanks, with 138 tanks and 132 anti-tank guns. The Battle of Villers-Bocage, which dealt a devastating blow to British tank forces by single cavalry at the Normany Front, is particularly famous.
