This is an injection-plastic field gun model kit.
The 10.5cm howitzer became the standard calibre for the divisional artillery during WWII. The German leFH.18 was the backbone of the German Army divisions, and fought on all fronts throughout the war. AFV Club has done a great job again — this is the most precise model kit of this artillery piece ever made. This kit is so well done that putting it together can help the builder understand the complicated mechanism of the gun carriages! The parts are molded very thin and tiny, so a great deal of care should be taken when cutting them from the sprue. The kit can be built in either transport or firing mode; there are also two choices of assembly for the transport mode: one for horse-drawn wagon (surprisingly, much of the German Army relied on horse power for their transportation until the end of the war! They were not as fully mechanized as Goebbels claimed), and the other for the motor-transport (AFV35040 is its companion tractor). Metal parts are provided for the gun barrel and recuperator cylinder. Decals for the firing table and gun call signs are contained, too. This limited edition has modelized the howitzer with the muzzle brake (leFH18M) which uses a stronger charge to gain longer firing range (produced since 1940). Additional new parts included for the new upper gun carriage, muzzle brake (with new aluminum barrel) and spoked wooden wheels (with black vinyl rims). Also two tips of rattan cartridge containers (cast in resin) are included to round out the detail. A fair amount of modelling skill will be necessary to build this kit and it’s not recommended for beginners.
