Air defense has been a key factor for ground troops in every army, since the start of the deployment of combat aircraft in WWI. The German Army’s tank troops were strongly threatened by Allied ground attack aircraft during WWII, and they needed AA guns with sufficient mobility to keep up with and guard the tank toops. The Coelian, with its twin 3.7cm guns, was developed from the Panther tank. The Coelian never went beyond the mock-up stage, but its impressive appearance has attracted many modelers over the years.

Here’s Dragon/Cyber-Hobby’s fine kit of the Coelian, with the addition of a set of four “Panzer Rider” figures as an added bonus feature. Tracks are supplied as Dragon’s indy-link “Magic Tracks” tracks.
