The Renault AG1 first appeared in 1907 and became the most popular Parisian taxi between 1908-14 thanks to its strength and reliability — more than 2,000 units were produced. In early September of 1914, 1,300 of them were used by the French Army to transport 6,000 soldiers from Paris to the Battle of the Marne, where the French troops suppressed the German offensive.
