4×4 MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle is an armored fighting vehicle. Designed to endure improvised explosive device (IED) attacks and ambushes, the vehicle can withstand ballistic arms fire and mine blasts.

It was designed to take part in the US Military’s MRAP program. The first vehicles were delivered for testing in 2007. Over 6,000 of these mine-protected vehicles were built and several thousands of these vehicles are currently in service with the US Military. These armored vehicles might eventually replace all active duty HMMWVs as the standard US Army vehicles in Iraq and other war zones.

The vehicle utilizes the design of a crew capsule with a V-shaped hull. The V-hull deflects the blast of a land mine or IED away from the vehicle, protecting his occupants. The armored body of the vehicle is bolted together and not welded, which facilitates on-field repairs. It can be fitted with add-on armor. It also provides protection against direct fire and RPG rounds. The vehicle can be fitted with a roof-mounted and shielded 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun.
