This is an injection-plastic figure set for use with military dioramas or individual display.
The Peltast was an ancient Greek light infantryman, generally a soldier carrying a shield made of woven reeds covered with animal skin. Initially they played a role as an aid to heavy infantry, but their high mobility due to their light clothing, and their tactics such as throwing spears or javelins and using slings to throw stones to distract the enemy, proved highly effective. At the Battle of Lekaion in 391 B.C., Peltasts countered Sparta’s heavy infantry well enough to allow their defeat by a light infantry unit from Athenai.
