The Panzer II tank was a lightweight tank used by Germany from the interwar period to the early stages of World War II, weighing around 10 tons. In preparation for rearmament, the German military started producing the 5-ton Panzer I tank in 1934. However, it was too small for training purposes, and the Panzer I, equipped only with a machine gun, couldn’t facilitate comprehensive shooting drills. Consequently, in 1934, the German Army Weapons Bureau Section 6 requested development proposals from Krupp, Henschel, and MAN for a new tank.
