Description

This is an injection-plastic field gun model kit.

Development of the M198 towed howitzer began in 1968, when alightweight replacement was sought for the WWII-era M114 155mm howitzer. A prototype was constructed in 1969, and firing tests began in 1970. Two prototypes of the M198 were delivered to the U.S. Army in 1972, and it entered full time production in 1978 after further testing. Over 1,600 of this weapon were produced until 1992.
