The Universal Carrier is a tracked multipurpose transport vehicle developed based on the Bren Gun Carrier. It was widely used by the Allied forces during World War II for transporting personnel and supplies, as well as for towing artillery. Additionally, there were variants designed for infantry support, equipped with Vickers heavy machine guns, Bren light machine guns, and Boys anti-tank rifles, as well as self-propelled mortars that carried 3-inch mortars and their crews. Production of this vehicle began in 1940, and by the end of production in 1960, approximately 57,000 units had been produced in the UK alone, with around 28,000 units produced in Canada.
