This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The Panzer IV was a World War II German tank that was highly trusted by soldiers. Initially, it was planned as an infantry support tank, but due to its large body size and the ability to be modified according to the battle situation, it continued to be active as a main battle tank throughout the war. Many types of the Panzer IV were made due to the length of its production period; among them, the F2 type was the first to be equipped with a long-barreled main gun — a 43-caliber 75mm tank gun KwK40L/43. It was a response to the front line’s demand for high attack power against the Soviet T-34 and KV-I, which seemed to be a gap in the German-Soviet war. The hull of the Panzer IV uses the F type, which had been produced since 1941 with enhanced basic armor thickness. 175 of this tank were produced from March to July 1942; it was also introduced to the North African front, where it demonstrated its high anti-tank attack power. After that time, the name was changed to the G type, and more were produced as a vehicle that played a role as a German main battle tank.
This model kit from Dragon reproduces the type of Panzer IV produced from April to May 1943. In addition to using a prefabricated Magic track for the crawler belt that enhances the finish of the suspension, this kit features aluminum parts for the long-barreled gun, and 3D-printed parts for the muzzle brake to reproduce the complex shape sharply and integrally. Gun sleeve parts also use a three-way slide mold to accurately reproduce its shape. Metal parts are also available for the side armor skirt and Schulzen. This premium edition model kit includes photo-etched parts to accurately detail each part. The basic lower part of the hull is a single slide-molded part; details of the hatches and bolts on the underside of the hull are expressed in great detail. The upper part of the hull has a sharp finish with separate parts for the side fenders, sides, and engine deck grille. The turret uses a three-way slide mold to reliably model its shape.
