This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I (1914-1918), so its not surprising to see many model makers adding WWI tanks, aircraft, and ships to their kit lineups. The very first tanks were built and used during WWI, but up until now there have only really been the classic Emhar kits of various WWI tanks in 1/35 scale. Now Takom is here to take us into the 21st century world of modeling technology with this all-new kit of the British Mark IV Female Heavy Tank!
The 27-ton Mark IV Female was so named due to its lighter armament: five Lewis machine guns mounted in the bow and in small sponsons on the sides of the hull (the heavier Male was armed with two 6-pounder cannons mounted in much larger sponsons, plus three Lewis machine guns). Capable of a modest 6.4kph, the Mark IV tanks caused quite a shock on the battlefield when they were first introduced.
Takoms stunningly detailed kit of the Mark IV Female tank features workable indy-link tracks, a fully reproduced suspension and drive system with workable wheels, photo-etched metal detail parts, markings for two variations, and a 1/35 figure of a German photographer with camera, circa 1917.
Armor modelers have been hoping for new WWI armor kits for decades, and now that wait is finally over! In addition to the Female, Takom also offers the Male version of the Mark IVbe sure to get both!
