This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
Touted as the “world’s first practical 4WD vehicle,” the Japanese Type 95 Light Vehicle, nicknamed “Kurogane,” was originally conceived in 1935 and put into production in 1937. About 4,800 units were completed by the end of production in 1944. The Kurogane was used by both the Japanese Army and Navy throughout Asia and the Pacific in a variety of roles.
Another fine entry in Tamiya’s 1/48 military vehicles collection! This all-plastic kit (no die-cast chassis this time) features Tamiya’s trademark sharp molding and attention to detail. Although this is a curbside kit with no engine included, the interior is nicely done, and the convertible top can be built up or down. The IJA star on the grill is a self-adhesive metal part with a decal, while the IJN anchor is provided as another self-adhesive metal part (although it is not used in this particular release of the Kurogane). Another nice touch is the self-adhesive metal part used for the review mirror. Includes a seated driver figure and standing commander figure with his ceremonial katana.
