The Pit-Road SW-1300 M-02 model kit represents the HMS York (D98), a Batch III Type 42 (Sheffield-class) destroyer of the Royal Navy. This 1/700 scale kit was originally released in the 1990s and features detailed plastic sprues and waterslide decals, allowing modelers to recreate either the HMS York or HMS Edinburgh.

The Type 42 destroyers were designed for fleet area air-defense, with fourteen ships built across three batches. The Batch III vessels, including HMS York, featured an extended hull for improved performance. HMS York, launched on 20 June 1982, was the last Type 42 destroyer ordered and was recognized as the Royal Navy’s fastest destroyer, capable of reaching speeds up to 34 knots.
