The Yaktotiger is a heavy destroyer tank that started development almost at the same time as the Tiger II, which was said to be the strongest tank in World War II. Based on the body of the Tiger II, the total length was extended, and a fixed battle room was set up to mount the 55-caliber 12.8cm tank gun that was intended for use on the super-heavy tank Maus. The mockup of the Yaktotiger, which began development in 1943, was completed in October of that year. The first production model was completed in February 1944. It was equipped with a Maibach V-type 12-cylinder gasoline engine at the rear. Its undercarriage was the same torsion-bar suspension as the Tiger II. The hull had strong armor with a front of 250mm and a side of 80mm, and the addition of a 12.8cm gun enabled it to fight hard against the Allied Forces. It played an active part in the battle of Ardenne and the battle against the Lemagen Iron Bridge.

This completed die-cast display model of the Yaktotiger reproduces the mass-produced Henschel type with the torsion-bar type suspension. Its 55-caliber 12.8cm gun mounted on a fixed battle room gives it a feeling of power; the finish is full of realism, such as the weld marks on the armor plate, the reproduction of the bolts, and the details of each hatch. This model reproduces a tank belonging to the 512th Heavy Tank Destroyer Squadron of the German Defense Force Army.
